Family Outing’ Hyo Ri- Jong Kook- Jae Suk.. “Very worried” about Dae Sung’s accident

DS

Popular group Big Bang’s member Dae Sung’s traffic accident has made fellow members of SBS ‘Family Outing’ Lee Hyo Ri, Kim Jong Kook and others worry for the whole night.

While returning from ‘Family Outing’ filming on the 11th around 4 PM coming back to Seoul at around Kyunggi-do area Dae Sung encountered an accident when the car he was in hit the center divider. Dae Sung was taken to a neighborhood hospital and received emergency treatment where afterwards he was evacuated urgently to a Seoul hospital. A person speaking for the hospital said he suffered some spinal injuries and needs to undergo treatment for 6 weeks.

Upon hearing news of his accident on the day the Family Outing performers and production team became really worried.

Especially for ‘Family Outing’s’ Madam Lee Hyo Ri. On the day of hearing about Dae Sung’s accident she rolled her foot as she was trying to contact him. On the 12th Lee Hyo Ri’s representative said “From the time she heard about Dae Sung’s accident on that day had tried to get in touch with him in every single way possible.” “She even tried contacting his manager and stylist but was unable to get in touch and she was extremely worried.”

The rep also said “At first she thought it was justa minor accident but after hearing that the condition is more serious than she thought she became really worried.”

Lee Hyo Ri isn’t the only one. After Kim Jong Kook heard about the accident he spoke to the people around him “Dae Sung’s injury won’t be serious” saying this as he was really concerned. Kim Jong Kook’s representative said “Kim Jong Kook-ssi was extremely surprised.” “He had hoped that Dae Sung’s injury wouldn’t be serious.”

Family Outing’s MC Yoo Jae Suk became really worried when he heard about Dae Sung’s traffic accident. Yoo Jae Suk’s representative said “When Yoo Jae Suk heard about Dae Sung’s accident he was really worried.”

Meanwhile because of Dae Sung’s accident, it will be hard for him to do the musical ‘Shouting’ on the 12th. It was planned to be the first performance of ‘Shouting’ with his fellow member Seung Ri.

Considering that we will have a new Family Outing episode this coming Sunday, the announcement of the guest family member has certainly took longer than usual. And it was not like SBS had any choice since they had to show the preview yesterday. The guest family member for episode 58, 59 will be actress Song Ji Hyo (Goong), who has never appeared in any variety shows prior to this and will be her first.

The recording of this episode took place earlier this month between 13 – 14th July, and had deviated from the normal filming schedule. Usually, they take a week’s break after filming an episode (Kim Min Joon, Ji Sang Ryul) for the week, but they filmed the Song Ji Hyo episode in the following week. The filming took place in Jeollabuk-do, south-west of the Korean peninsular and the sudden visit of Song Ji Hyo (27), who has not appeared in public since her movie, A Frozen Flower in 2008, caused a big reaction among Family Outing members. And for the record, Big Bang’s Daesung who missed the Kim Min Joon episode last time around, makes his return for this episode.

In one of the segments to coincide with the ghost month, the Family Outing members had to enter a haunted house and it felt like a pretty terrifying night for them all. Song Ji Hyo was not 1 of them though as she took on the pains to dress herself up as a ghost to scare the family members, hiding in a corner for almost 5 hours. But in the end, no one was freaked out by Song Ji Hyo as she ended up feeling dead tired. Kim Jong Kook and Yoon Jong Shin also became “ghosts” for the night as well.

Not sure if you have watched it yet, but the most recent episode of SBS Family Outing on 19th July must surely rank as one of the most lacklustre and boring episode ever. Viewers in Korea seem to think so too as ratings fell by a staggering 6.2% compared to the previous week. KBS2TV 1N2D have always topped SBS Family Outing in the ratings department but on 19th July, the entire KBS2TV Happy Sunday segment consisting of single digit program, Qualifying Men together with 1N2D managed to surpass Family Outing for the first time in months.

FO

TNS Media Korea ratings (nationwide) on 12th July
3. SBS Good Sunday (Family Outing) – 26.6%
4. KBS Happy Sunday (Qualifying Men, 1N2D) – 23.0%

On 19th July
3. KBS Happy Sunday (Qualifying Men, 1N2D) – 21.2%
4. SBS Good Sunday (Family Outing) – 20.4%

Ratings have been on a upward curve when the episodes of Park Hae Jin and Park Shi Yeon as the new family members were aired over the past fortnight but apparently it was just a temporary rise. Some experts have claimed that the loss of Daesung who had to be with Big Bang in Japan and couldn’t make it for the Family Outing recording was the main reason for the sharp rating decline. But if you analyse it thoroughly, there were many reasons for the rating decline and was actually something waiting to happen. The departure of Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee were probably the catalyst.

The paragliding activity was supposed to be the highlight of the episode but only Yoon Jong Shin, Park Hae Jin, Kim Suro, Park Shi Yeon and Kim Min Joon took the jump. The most hilarious members Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Hyori, Kim Jong Kook and Ji Sang Ryul were all spared from the jump because of wind conditions. Even worse was that they had to edit out Kim Min Joon’s jump because he had injured himself.

Another thing was the omission of games during daytime on the first day in recent memory. Many viewers would love to see their stars battle each other in games and the ensuing gags during the process. But not only has it been cancelled, there’s no straight replacement for it making it feel like there’s something missing.

If it was not mentioned at all in the program, you might have thought that Ji Sang Ryul was the only guest family member although Kim Min Joon was the other one. Kim Min Joon had really few scenes in this episode, probably because his paragliding portion was edited away and his injury made him uncomfortable. He did not appear on camera nor talk much. As for Ji Sang Ryul, he did not really do as well as expected of him and it was pretty awkward at times between him and the other members.

The kimchi mission for Yoon Jong Shin and Park Hae Jin took up way too much time and wasn’t really funny at all. Ditto for the blueberries mission for Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Jong Kook and Park Shi Yeon, nothing really happened again. Perhaps more time is needed for the 2 new family members to integrate themselves to the “family” enviroment.

Viewers might also feel that there were too many changes in this episode. Taking away Park Hae Jin and Park Shi Yeon who were new, Daesung was missing, Kim Min Joon and Ji Sang Ryul were guests, and you have almost half of the family who were new to each other. Viewers who are used to seeing familar faces are thus turned off as they can’t get used to it. Stability is something that’s very much desired.

Thinking again, the unfortunate injury suffered by Kim Min Joon probably caused the whole filming schedule to go awry and caught the production team by surprise. Min Joon could only return after getting painkiller injections at a local hospital which meant that filming had to be stopped. Almost half of the day was gone when you realize that we jumped straight to dinner time when the paragliding was obviously done at around noon. The program felt kind of disjointed if you had viewed it from start to finish.

KJKMCM

According to the concert organizers, the concert will be held outdoors, enabling the fans to view the performance on stage as well as gaze at the beautiful night sky.

Kim Jong Kook has been holding lots of concerts since the end of 2008 where he had a joint concert with Fly to the Sky (Hwanhee, Brian). Earlier this year, Kim Jong Kook also had his own concert tour which was very well-received by fans. MC Mong also had his own concert tour, including one which was held at a luxurious swimming pool. Many fans are hoping to see what sort of fireworks would be created when the “One Man” meets the “Monkey” on stage. Off-stage, it’s also widely known that they are very good friends and thus have really good chemistry with each other.

Earlier, we told you guys about Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee leaving Family Outing. The preview for their last episode have finally surfaced and it’s pretty emotional.

Their last two episodes with Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee will be shown on 21st and 28th June, with the whole concept of the show being a farewell vacation. The normal schedule of games and dinner preparation took place, but there was also a special event planned for the two members. Even Daesung and Kim Jong Kook had rushed themselves to the filming as soon as they arrived from Japan from their respective commitments so that they would be able to say their goodbyes to the two. Although the family members tried their best not to cry, they still showed their tears in the end.

PD Jang Hyuk Jae said, “During the 1 year of working together, they have gotten very close to one another and had lots of regrets when the filming was finished. We spent time together without any guests and with just the original members.”

He added, “Although they have always worked hard, Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee worked especially hard (this time) knowing that this would be their last. Even though it was a good farewell, all the members cried in the end. During this time, the viewers have given us lots of love and even though we are coolly letting them leave, so that they will be able to evolve into better people, it was still very sad. It was a show in which people will really be able to feel just how attached we have become to one another.”

With their last episodes coming up, Park Hae Jin and Park Si Yeon will begin recording in mid-June and their episodes will be shown in July. Let’s hope that they can fill, or at least attempt to fill, the great gap left behind by these two wonderful family members.

Why did Park Hae Jin who has 3 dramas (East of Eden, By Land and Sky, Famous Princesses) on his resume, decide to take on a variety show all of a sudden? According to his management agency (Haha Entertainment) representative, Ha Jae Hwan, “We want to show viewers a different side of Park Hae Jin. He is very much different from his drama roles and has an outgoing personality. That is why we decided on Hae Jin taking on variety.”

FO

Park Hae Jin is considered to be pretty young (born in 1983) among present actors but most people associate him with someone who is much older than he looks because of his drama roles. His company hopes that by having Hae Jin taking on variety and showing his boyish charm, it can help change the perception of the general public.

Ha Jae Hwan continued, “Most importantly, Park Hae Jin loves cooking and has an unexpected charm about him that most people are unaware about. We hope that more people will get to know the real Park Hae Jin through Family Outing.” Ha Jae Hwan also has utmost confidence that Park Hae Jin will do well, “The production team only decided on Park Hae Jin after meeting him and were very pleased with what they have seen. He should be able to show his very best since SBS already has a good team in place.”

What about Park Shi Yeon? Well she didn’t quite explain her reasons but was cautious about her new project, “I am still pretty apprehensive towards variety shows now. I also feel very burdened because of the high popularity levels that the family members have. But after confirming my participation, I have gone through a lot of scenarios about my role in the family. I might not be able to to provide lots of entertainment to the viewers, but I will be showing my natural and normal self during the record

Park Shi Yeon also spoke of her determination to do well, “If I get nervous or unexpected situations happen, I will slip into my Busan dialect to show everyone my friendly and natural charisma. I will also try my very best to integrate myself into the family and build up good relationships with the existing family members bit by bit.”

The departures of Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee are much regretted. It was inevitable since their primary careers are acting but it was a pity that their schedules couldn’t be worked out to accomodate everything together. There are fears that more might be leaving, most notably Big Bang’s Daesung, Lee Hyori and Kim Jong Kook. It’s impossible to predict what might happen but I think it just got harder to even think about leaving in the near future. Frankly, at the start, I never thought much about Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee, because they were very much unknowns in the variety field. But they grew steadily into their roles and became an integral part of the family. You couldn’t imagine an episode without them. But all good things must come to an end eventually.

Many are already putting down Park Shi Yeon and Park Hae Jin even before they have even appeared on the show. Much like Park Ye Jin and Lee Chun Hee in the beginning a year ago, they are pretty much an unknown quantity and have similar acting backgrounds. But alas, time is not on their side as they are replacing 2 popular family members and have BIG shoes to fill. This is in addition to the fact that Family Outing is already pretty much established and they will have to adapt really quickly. They will also probably be judged harshly after their first episode by the UNFORGIVING netizens.

Will Family Outing continue to be a success or will it be a washout like the latter stages of We Got Married? We shall see in a month’s time. Park Shi Yeon and Park Hae Jin will record their episodes in mid-June and they will be on tv starting 5th July.

Family Outing’s mosquito-voiced muscle man, Kim Jong Kook, kicked off the hallyu stage of his career with two concerts in Japan last weekend. The shows took place on May 30th and 31st, with the first at Tokyo Nakano Sun Plaza Hall and the second at Osaka NHK Hall.

KJK

Fans lined up in droves for the event, with KJK’s Japanese fan club preparing a gift for their buff hunk who came across the sea.

Having greeted his audience first in Japanese, Kim Jong Kook then told everyone that he was “grateful towards everyone that came to my first Japanese concert” and that the concert would “show everyone my entire 15-year music career from the Turbo era to today.” Yoon Eun Hye’s main squeeze sang his songs in reverse chronological order, performing his solo hits “Today More Than Yesterday”, “Can’t Get Better Than This”, and Loveable as the mostly female show ate up the show and muscular accompaniment. But to the disappointment of many Family Outing fans, Yoo Jae Suk wasn’t there to parody “Today More Than Yesterday”, as he often does on the show to an incredulous Kim Jong Kook. Maybe next time.

After performing his newer solo songs, KJK brought back a blast from the past, calling former bandmate Mickey up to the stage for some Turbo resurrection. The duo sang some of Turbo’s 90s hits including “Love Is” and “My Childhood Dream”, introducing Japanese fans – most of whom only knew Kim Jong Kook from his solo career – to their one man’s turbo-charged past. KJK even catered to the audience by singing a Japanese song, giving fangirls a Happy Virus with his good Japanese. Hip-hop duo Mighty Mouth also performed for KJK’s overseas venture, singing their own single “Energy”

The audience response was fantastic for both concerts, with news reports quoting that “Kim Jong Kook’s sweet voice is the best” and “Jong Kook really has that aura that pulls people. Everyone at the concert hall was united.” KJK fans were also extremely pleased at the concert’s unique nostalgic structure. Because Kim Jong Kook has been in the music industry for so many years, the concert became a manifestation of his long career, with reminiscent video greetings from KJK’s friends splicing the concert set, including messages from Lee Hyori, Shinhwa’s Jun Jin, Big Bang’s Daesung, My Sassy Girl’s Cha Tae Hyun, and of course, Yoon Eun Hye. The concert also featured a lengthy montage recapping KJK’s life in the entertainment world, inducing tears from the ahjummas who had followed the singer since their teenage years.
