Big Bang has been working hard on their Japan promotions as well as solo projects and are planning to return to the Korean scene on T.V! Sadly, not with a new album.

BB

The five-member group will come back as part of the upcoming Chuseok special on SBS. This is a surprise appearance since they were not supposed to have Korean activities for most of 2009.

As many already knew, G-Dragon and 2NE1 performed on a special stage for the highly anticipated Idol Big Show, an episode to be revealed on October 3rd. This is a performance unlike any you have seen before! Are you excited?

As this is a pre-recorded performance, it has been reported that G-Dragon performed “Breathe”, “Hello” with Dara, and “1 Year Station”. Then 2NE1 followed up with “Fire” drum music/rhythmic version as well as “Let’s Go Party” from their 1st Mini Album. “Let’s Go Party” has not been performed live yet so that’s definitely something to look forward to.

Then the surprise arrival of Big Bang had many fans shocked, because no one had any idea they were coming. They were there to support their fellow YG Family members, 2NE1 and their brother G-Dragon. The group sang “Last Farewell” with 2NE1 as well as their song, “How Gee”. A freestyle dance battle with 2NE1 also occurred…

Is Big Bang filming a new MV? There have been some rumors that they are after photos of the boys filming surfaced on the internet. It looks like Daesung has recovered nicely and was healthy enough to be present for the shoot as well… however there was one Big Bang person missing. TOP, Seungri, Taeyang, and Daesung were all present but G-Dragon wasn’t. He probably was busy because of his HEARTBREAKER promotions and his scenes will probably be filmed at a later date.

So what do you think this is for? People are speculating that it’s for Taeyang’s new MV for his upcoming solo release.

Female singers have been seen becoming more bold and lascivious in their dressing on the stage lately.

X

From suggestive and provocative fashion designs worn on stage till fashion malfunction and undesirable exposure during the course of the choreography, all these have gone up to the top of news page of late.

Most recently, we have member HyunA of 4Minute was spotted wearing a minidress too short for her comfort on stage. The dress kept going up during her performance and she was seen constantly pulling it down.

There was even a video uploaded on Youtube on 19th September showing all the different clips showing such exposure of HyunA during various performances.

HyunA’s representative came out to say after the incident, “Underneath the skirt, she did wear safety shorts.” But netizens don’t buy it, “The problem is the shortness of the dress, underwear or safety shorts they are supposed to be worn underneath”, “This is really too much for a young minor to have her under shorts exposed and wear such clothes.”

And then previously, WonderGirls SoHee was also criticised for wearing sleeveless and short hot pants during the group’s Bangkok concert. Netizens have voiced then, “This is too wild for a high school girl” etc. There was also this instance where SoHee had worn a minidress and done a sexy dance performance, and netizens voiced again, “We hope that singers of such tender age do not undergo too much exposure.”

Last month, on Mnet ‘2NE1 TV’, 2NE1 youngest member Gong MinJi (15) was seen wearing a pair of leggings with prints of CareBears in provocative position. This caused an outrage amongst TV viewers to see such a young singer like MinJi wear such a fashion. Fellow member Sandara Park was also seen wearing the same prints.

And last February, member ChaeRin (21) of Brand New Day experienced a nipslip from the tube dress she was wearing while performing on KBS Music Bank. Her company then came out to say, “There was no nipslip. She wore underwear underneath, it only looked like she exposed her chest.” Netizens have voiced out then, “Recently there has been no end to exposure cases”, “Is this just noise marketing?” etc

There was also this incident where member DaHam of group Foxy also experienced exposure of her chest when her bra strap came off during the performance. After that, the incident was the #1 searched on Korean portal sites.

Member Nam GyuRi of group SeeYa also experienced the same incident during ‘Big4 Concert’ in 2006, and also singer solo Ayoomi during her performance on one of the music shows.

Following the reports that YG Entertainment whose artists include GDragon and 2NE1 has received notification letters concerning infringement of copyrighted materials from a local copyright holder, Teddy (HongJoon Park), the composer and producer of 2NE1’s “I Don’t Care,” had an exclusive phone interview with AM 7 on the 24th to express his position on the issue.

Teddy

Whenever there was a dispute over plagiarism, it was usually the label (who has the neighboring copyrights) who released statements to acknowledge or deny the accusation. This is the first time that the composer, the copyright holder, has spoken about his position.

In the interview, Teddy said firmly that he did not plagiarize, responding to the claims that there are similarities between the chorus parts of “I Don’t Care” and “Just Go” from Lionel Richie’s album released last year.

He said, “I did listen to the Lionel Richie song following the controversy over “I Don’t Care.” You can’t say it is plagiarism just because the feel, not the melody, of the two songs is similar.” He stressed, “Two people living on the opposite sides of the world could have similar facial features. It is not right to say it is plagiarism just because the feel of the songs is similar.” “I feel frustrated that some people are convinced that I used the Richie song as a reference, if not plagiarized.” he added.

Teddy is a member of the hip hop group 1TYM and has been with YG Entertainment for over 10 years, writing and/or arranging most of the hits by YGE artists. He arranged Se7en’s “I Know” (2006) and Big Bang’s “Sunset Glow” (2008) and wrote and arranged TaeYang’s “Look Only at Me” (2008), Um JeongHwa’s “D.I.S.C.O.” (2008), and 2NE1 and Big Bang’s “Lollipop” (2009).

He says, “When you write a song and if that song is similar to another song then it is the composer’s responsibility to make changes. However, as far as this song (”I Don’t Care”) is concerned, Heaven knows and I know that I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of so I will not discuss it at length.”

He added, “I have absolutely no interest in either lawsuits or plagiarism accusations.”

YG Entertainment Yang Hyun Seok refutes back after they have received warning from Sony ATV for plagiarism case for 4 songs produced by the company – GDragon’s ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘Butterfly’, Big Bang’s ‘With U’ and 2NE1 ‘I Don’t Care’.

YGGD

He left a message on YG homepage on 24th September, “We understand that it is in Sony ATV’s interests to protect the rights of its song composers.”

“Recently Mariah Carey’s song ‘Standing O’ sounds similar to 2NE1’s ‘In The Club’ released 3 months earlier. There are 8 lines, and 24 seconds that sounds similar, and with the repetition, the total length of the song that sounds similar is up to 1 min. But SonyATV did not say anything about Mariah Carey’s song plagiarising 2NE1’s song.”

He also added, “Even though this is embarrassing but the composers to ‘I Don’t Care’ and even myself have not listen to the music produced by SonyATV.” refuting accusations for plagiarism.
SonyATV has recently sent warnings to YG Entertainment on 17th September on plagiarism issues of YG Entertainment’s 4 songs. And following that, the issue was investigated into on MBC ‘Current Affairs Magazine 2580′ on 20th September.

Yang Hyun Seok said, “The song ‘I don’t care’ is the works of YG Ent’s main producer Teddy and Perry. They are 2 people who have strong pride and will not make a song which they don’t want to. And with the issue of plagiarism brought up by SonyATV has caused hurt and loss of pride by the 2 which will not be easy recovered, and had put YG Ent in public opinion.”

Sony/ATV Music Publishing has confirmed a report saying it is in the process of taking legal action against four songs it claims were plagiarized and released in the albums of YG Entertainment’s singers.

GD

MBC’s “Current Affairs Magazine 2580″ show aired on September 20 had reported Sony had sent YG a notification which prohibits the use of the music without permission.

“We sent a warning letter to YG and the songwriters of the respective songs on September 17 and are now waiting for a response,” said Sony in a press release on Monday.

Music experts had concluded that not only were G-Dragon’s “Heartbreaker” and “Butterfly” plagiarized, but Big Bang’s “With U” was largely similar to Joe’s “Ride Wit U” and 2NE1’s “I Don’t Care” had noticeable similarities to Lionel Richie’s “Just Go”, Sony explained.

Listeners had pointed out “Heartbreaker” and Flo Rida’s “Right Round”, and “Butterfly” and Oasis “She’s Electric” sounded alike from the moment the leader of boy band Big Bang released his first solo album in mid-August. “Heartbreaker” has remained atop music charts for over a month.

Popular girl group 2NE1 also ranked No.1 with “I Don’t Care” and Big Bang’s “With U” was listed in their Japan debut album.
Both groups are managed by YG, one of the most successful talent houses in Korea.
Sony holds 10 percent copyright ownership to “Right Round” and 100 percent ownership to Oasis “She’s electric”.

Group 2NE1 member Gong MinJi was seen tearing after knowing that her grandmother Madam Gong OkJin’s health is deteroriating.

GMJ

Gong MinJi has received much shock to find out that her grandmother’s health has deteriorated much with 2 stroke attack and a car accident. And with that, she was seen very quiet and looking troubled before the girls’ performance on Asia Song Festival on 19th September.

YG Entertainment said, “When MinJi heard the news about her grandmother’s health, she had a shock. The other 2NE1 members are also comforting her.”

Friends and families have revealed that they worried that Gong MinJi will feel guilty of not being able to see her grandmother as often with her singing activities.

A family friend said, “Madam Gong OkJin have loved to see Gong MinJi perform on stage more than anyone else from before MinJi debuted. With that this becomes more of a burden to MinJi. There are plans for MinJi to go visit her grandmother and take care of her after her minialbum activities end.

Gong MinJi has gained interests before her debut as the grand-daughter of Gong OkJin who is famous for her ‘transformation dance’. Gong MinJi also mentioned about her grandmother when she debuted, pointing out that her grandmother has given her advice about her performances on stage.

As many of you recall, back in August, Sony noted similarities between G-Dragon’s “Heartbreaker” & “Right Round” (Flo Rida) as well as “Butterfly” & “She’s Electric” (Oasis). On the 21st, Sony reported their observations to the original producers of each song then waited for their response.

GD

Furthermore, it isn’t just G-Dragon who’s under the heat – according to Freechal, “I Don’t Care” by 2NE1 (supposedly akin to Lionel Richie’s “Just Go”) & Big Bang’s “With U” are also under the same situation.

ATV Music Publishing, the South Korean branch of Sony, just announced the verdict on these alleged similarities. Today on Sisa Magazine 2580 (시사매거진 2580), a news programme on MBC, it was reported that officials from Sony sent YG Entertainment warning letters regarding the plagiarism. Sony’s legal representative stated, “It was a hard decision for the music critics. However, they decided that there were similarities and accordingly issued a warning letter to the production company and composers. They have also denied YG Entertainment the permission to promote these songs.”
